本期分享我院陶坚博士（第一作者）、赵珂教授和陈修文博士（通讯作者）2019年2月共同发表于SSCI二区国际学术期刊Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural Development的论文“The Motivation and Professional Self of Teachers Teaching Languages Other Than English in a Chinese University”(Published online: 12 February 2019)。该论文关注中国“非升即走”高校环境下小语种老师的职业发展状态，对教师动机和身份理论发展做出了一定的贡献。
【论文导读】
Language teachers’ motivation and self is essential to their long-term commitment and professional development. Drawing on Language Teacher Self theory, the study reports on the professional experiences of seven teachers teaching languages other than English (LOTEs) in a Chinese university with shifting teacher appraisal policy. The findings revealed that majority of the participants were motivated to join the profession to pursue an academic career. They primarily built their teacher ought-to self on students’ expectations and were able to reduce the self-discrepancy through self-regulatory efforts. Comparatively, they had more challenges to realise their researcher ought-to self derived from the research policy that privileges English publications. In response, they made strategic efforts to connect with English research through cross-linguistic collaboration and learn to write English by positioning themselves as international scholars. The findings highlight the motivating impact of ought-to self on language teachers’ professional development. Implications are discussed on how to facilitate the professional development of LOTEs teachers in higher education.

陈修文，法国巴黎七大狄德罗大学博士，现任上海财经大学外国语学院讲师。
研究方向：二语习得、语言政策等。近年来在法国核心期刊发表论文一篇，专著两部，主持上海市社科项目（在研）。
