本期与大家分享我院陶坚博士与新南威尔士大学副教授高雪松博士合作的文章“Identity constructions of ESP teachers in a Chinese university”。目前该论文已于国际学术期刊English for Specific Purposes(SSCI一区)正式发表(Volume 49,January 2018,Pages 1-13)。


【Abstract】
This study draws on life-history interview data to examine the identity construction and negotiation of eight English for Specific Purposes (ESP) teachers at a Chinese university. Informed by an adapted model of TESOL teacher identity (Pennington, 2014), the data analysis reveals that for the study participants becoming an ESP teacher is a complex process of transforming professional practices and constructing professional identities. On the one hand, the participants felt a sense of intrinsic fulfilment through their teaching aimed at helping graduates acquire the ESP skills needed to support socioeconomic development in the region. On the other hand, their construction of professional identities is undermined by the marginalized status of ESP, as imposed by the institution. As English language teachers are increasingly expected to equip university graduates with ESP skills in diverse educational contexts, more attention and support are needed to facilitate ESP teachers’ professional development and hence identity formation.

陶坚,博士,讲师,毕业于香港大学教育学院,现在执教于上海财经大学外国语学院。研究兴趣主要包括教师身份认同,语言教师发展等。至今发表三篇SSCI期刊论文,及若干篇国内外文集章节。

高雪松,澳大利亚新南威尔士大学教育学院副教授,博士生导师。其研究兴趣包括自主学习,语言学习叙事,语言政策,语言教师教育等等。至今发表了专著和编著四本,国际期刊论文六十余篇,其中在SSCI权威刊物二十余篇。此外,高博士还担任SSCI一区期刊System: An International Journal of Educational Technology and Applied Linguistics之主编,并为The Asia Pacific Education Researcher, Journal of Language, Identity and Education及Teacher Development之编委会成员。
